Wakeling - Statement on Melissa “not my job” Horne’s intervention

Tuesday, 25 February 2020

Commuters have had to put up with 10 tram strikes in the last six months because Labor Public Transport Minister Melissa “not my job” Horne has been hiding under her desk.

Less than two weeks ago, Horne protested that it was not her job to intervene to end Yarra Trams’ dispute with tram drivers.

But today, the Andrews Government has confirmed that Horne has been forced to sit in on negotiations to halt tram strikes during the Australian Grand Prix.

It is clear to all that Horne has failed Melbourne’s travelling public.

The Liberal Nationals are calling for Andrews to sack Melissa Horne as she’s clearly incompetent.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Nick Wakeling:

“It’s embarrassing that Melissa Horne has been little more than a passenger as this six-month long dispute has dragged on.

“Commuters have lost confidence in Melissa “not my job” Horne, so it’s high time Andrews showed her the door.

“The Liberal Nationals are calling on Andrews to do his job, and get rid of his failed Public Transport Minister who hasn’t done her job for the last six months.”
