Sixth fatal shooting in six weeks

Monday, 15 April 2019

The drive-by shooting on the corner of Little Chapel St and Malvern Rd in Prahran is the latest episode in an alarming increase of gun violence in Victoria.

This is the sixth shooting fatality in six weeks which is six too many.

There are also serious concerns that several of these shootings are gang related.

Recent Coroners Court data confirmed that March 2019 was the deadliest month for shootings in Victoria in a decade and recent Crime Statistics Agency figures show that weapons and explosives offences are up 15.8% since the election of the Andrews Labor Government.

Violent crime continues to spiral out of control but the Andrews Labor Government continues to offer more of the same.

Unless Daniel Andrews gets serious about tackling organised crime and gang related shootings, Victorians will continue to have unsafe streets and their lives put at risk.
