We need to keep our country roads safe

Monday, 11 September 2017

Reports that Daniel Andrews will reduce the speed limit to 70 kmh on some unsealed country roads is just lazy policy by a lazy government.

This comes on top of the deterioration of sealed country roads where speed limits have been reduced from 100 kmh to in some cases 60 kmh.

The policy solution is to fix these dangerous roads.

These unsealed roads are dangerous and the safest solution for our country roads is to ensure there is adequate funding to maintain them to a safe standard.

The Andrews Government received a massive cash windfall due to the sale of the Port of Melbourne, and they have introduced 11 new taxes, so repairing some of these busier country roads should be a priority.

The best way to keep our roads safe is to keep them in a safe condition.
