Andrews must come clean on plans to tear up planning protections

Monday, 20 March 2017

Daniel Andrews must come clean on plans to tear up planning protections.

Daniel Andrews and his Planning Minister released their so-called Plan Melbourne refresh 12 months late last weekend, but without key steps to diminish planning protections that they have flagged.

Why are they hiding their nasty changes to Neighbourhood Residential Zones across a huge sweep of Melbourne?

In the documents released in recent days, Labor has begun its drive for increased density and taken the first step to stripping away protections introduced by the former Coalition Government on many established suburbs.

Andrews intends to force density on local communities, packing more houses and more people in like sardines.

He must come clean immediately and release the details of which suburbs will have their protections stripped away in Labor’s drive for density.

The following municipalities have Neighbourhood Residential Zones that are at risk:

  • Maribyrnong
  • Stonnington
  • Yarra
  • Boroondara
  • Manningham
  • Maroondah
  • Whitehorse
  • Yarra Ranges
  • Bayside
  • Cardinia
  • Greater Dandenong
  • Brimbank
  • Melton
  • Ballarat
  • Greater Geelong
  • Latrobe
  • Banyule
  • Darebin
  • Moreland
  • Nillumbik
  • Whittlesea
