Matthew Guy was elected as a Member for Northern Metropolitan Region in November 2006 and re-elected in 2010.

In 2014 Matthew was elected as the Member for Bulleen and became the Leader of the Opposition.

Matthew was born and raised in Greensborough and Montmorency. Following secondary school he completed a Bachelor of Arts in politics and history at La Trobe University, he has also done post graduate studies in Ukrainian language & culture at Monash University.

In the late 1990s Matthew was the Director of Research at the Office of the Victorian Premier and worked as Media Advisor to the Federal Assistant Treasurer. He was Chief of Staff to the Victorian Opposition Leader between 1999 and 2002 and later became the Manager of Marketing, Communications and Member Services for the Victorian Farmers Federation. Prior to his election, Matthew was the Manager of Government Relations for the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.

A supporter of local heritage societies and community radio, Matthew is a member of Plenty Valley FM, Radio 3RRR and the Saint Kilda Football Club. He is committed to improving transport, community safety and local infrastructure in the local community, and ensuring the provision of essential community services, such as clean hospitals and good public schools.
