David Southwick was first elected as the Member for Caulfield in the Victorian Parliament in November 2010.

In 2014, David was appointed into the Shadow Ministry of the Victorian Coalition and serves as the Shadow Minister for Innovation, Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources and Shadow Minister for Renewables, and is the former Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Emergency Services.

David has served as one of Parliament’s representatives on the board of the Victorian Responsible Gaming Foundation (VRGF) and is the former Chair of the Parliament of Victoria’s Education and Training Committee.

David has a strong background in innovation, entrepreneurship and small business and prior to entering parliament established a number of businesses in the manufacturing and service sectors.

He also spent a number of years in academia, including serving as RMIT’s first Entrepreneur in Residence and as Head of the Executive Education Unit (Faculty of Business and Law) at Victoria University.

David also has a passion for working with youth and the charity sector and in recognition of his work assisting local youth, David was made the City of Stonnington’s Citizen of the Year in 2009.

As the Member for Caulfield, David has supported many local initiatives including founding the annual Caulfield Racecourse Run, which has raised near $100,000 for local community groups in two years, and being appointed as Chair of the Social Inclusion Leadership Committee (SILC) which seeks to promote the inclusion of people with disability in employment and community life in Victoria.

In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit, following the St Kilda Saints and spending time with family.
