Kim Wells was first elected to the Victorian Parliament as the Member for Wantirna in 1992 and was re-elected in 1996 and 1999. Following a redistribution Kim won the new seat of Scoresby in 2002, being re-elected in November 2006 and in 2010.
Kim has a Bachelor of Business from the Footscray Institute of Technology and a Masters Degree in Accounting from Victoria University. He is also a Fellow with CPA Australia.
Having worked as Operations Manager for medium and large transport businesses, Kim brings to the role of Treasurer extensive experience in finance and operations management.
An accomplished sportsman who’s interests including football, tennis, squash and mountaineering, Kim is a supporter and patron of local sporting clubs and has involvement in other community organisations. These include the Friends of Dandenong Valley Parklands and the Victorian Homeless Fund.
Kim was an effective Shadow Minister for Police & Emergency Services and Shadow Minister for Corrections between 2002 and 2006, keeping the Labor Government accountable in these portfolios. He was elevated to the Shadow Treasurer’s position in December 2006.
Kim Wells is the current Victorian Minister for Police and Emergency Services and the Minister for Bushfire Response.
Kim and his wife Judy have three children.
