Victorian Coalition Policies
2010 Budget Reply: The Coalition's Way Forward
After 11 years the Brumby Labor Government has grown tired and it must be held to account. Over that 11 years Labor has had access to more money than ever before to invest in the future of Victoria, but much of this has been wasted on projects that run over-time and over budget. With the Labor Government increasing Victoria's debt and failing to offer any new ideas, it's time Victorian's made a change because Victoria deserves better. Victorian Families: An Economic & Social Analysis of Labor's Policies
Victorian families have become tired of the Brumby Government lecturing them about how good their lives are, and how much better things will be in the future under Labor.
When the Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition talks about wanting Victorian families to be better off, it’s more than just financial security. It’s the support we get to deal with the challenges of illness and disability. It’s being able to walk down the street without fear of violence. It’s about getting the best education for our kids. It’s about the quality of the lives we live, and it’s about quality use of our time. An hour spent waiting in a traffic jam, or waiting on a platform for a delayed train, is time far better spent with our loved ones.
2010 is an election year. It’s time to cut the spin and ask whether Mr Brumby and Labor are really delivering, and to hold them to account for their poor performance in serving Victorian families. Ted Baillieu's Transport Safety Plan
Officers at every station, all night, every night
A Baillieu Government will make Victoria safe again by putting Victoria Police Protective Services Officers at every metropolitan and major regional train station, all night, every night from 6pm until last train, 7 days a week. There will also be additional Victoria Police to patrol the train, tram and bus networks.
The Coalition will not tolerate crime on public transport. Click here to read Ted Baillieu's announcement of this important policy initiative.
The Coalition has five goals for a stronger and fairer Victoria
A Growing, Competitive Economy
We need an audit of this state's fiscal position and a clear plan focused on responsible budgets for the long-term, with low taxes, prudent borrowing and strong management of public assets in Victoria.
We also need to rebuild and secure our long-term economic competitiveness of industry in Victoria.
Services that Work
People deserve the certainty of knowing they can get to work on time; that their kids are getting a good education; that they'll be safe on our streets; and that if a family member gets sick they can get a hospital bed.
Every Victorian deserves certainty about basic services delivered by their Government.
Strong Families and Vibrant Communities
A strong family is the greatest source of support and comfort an individual can possess. That's why the hopes and dreams of Victorian families are the focal point of Coalition policy development.
Identifying current and future pressures on Victorian families is central to buildinga stronger, more secure and fairer Victoria.
Secure Water and a Healthy Environment
The Coalition is committed to a long-term, sustainable water solution. That's why we support initiatives such as recycling, stormwater capture, new dams and water tanks.
Victorians should not have to worry about running out of water. Future supplies must be guaranteed. We need to think long-term for the sake of future generations.
Government You Can Trust
It's time to lift the veil of secrecy that has descended on this Government and its ministers. That's why we'll establish and independent broad-based anti-corruption commission that will get to the bottom of corruption allegations.
The relationship between the Victorian public and government must be based on trust.
